Mrs. Howard |
My name is Lisa Howard and this will be my fourteenth year teaching here at FKE. My first 10 years were spent in the wonderful world of second grade, and this will be my fourth year in 4th grade. I’m looking forward to getting the ball rolling!
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University Bloomington in December of 2005 and completed my Masters Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University in August of 2009. As a teacher, my goals are to build relationships and confidence in each and every child. I hope to reach each child as he/she builds on previously learned mathematical concepts to gain new knowledge, and to foster student experiences to encourage and maintain a love for learning. I live in Charlestown, IN with my husband, Grant, my 5 year old son, Levi, and our 3 year old daughter, Lydia. We love IU basketball, grilling out, and spending time together as a family. My husband and I own our own construction business, Howard Built Homes. We enjoy building and designing homes. I am looking forward to an incredibly exciting year with your child. With that said, I hope that all of you will join me in my excitement to get this school year started! |
Mrs. Rickard |
Hello! My name is Amina Rickard and I’m looking forward to being your child’s teacher this year! Teaching reading is one my passions and I believe that it’s one of the most important and valuable gifts that we can give our children. As your child’s reading teacher, I hope to help my students discover the amazing opportunities that reading has to offer. I want them to see that reading has the power to teach us new information about any topic we’re interested in, it can take us to places we’ve never been, and it can provide comfort, joy, relaxation, and so much more! Throughout the year, we’ll read a variety of genres and learn reading comprehension strategies that will help students become stronger readers. Whether your child is an avid reader or a reluctant reader, I’ll meet them where they are and help them reach their full potential. Reading has so many benefits and I’m looking forward to instilling the love of reading in your child and helping them grow!
I believe that all students are capable of learning and can meet and even exceed expectations if they’re given the appropriate tools and are held accountable. One of the most important tools that I give my students is a classroom environment that fosters love, respect, structure, and high expectations. In addition to challenging students and helping them grow academically, I’ll also help them grow socially by teaching them character education. Every week we’ll study a new character trait and students will learn how to apply that trait to their everyday lives. Some of the traits we’ll study include essential virtues such as; empathy, integrity, respect, perseverance, self-control, and many more. It’s amazing how much learning can take place and how well students can get along with others once they understand how to demonstrate these traits! I also believe that students have greater success when they know that their teachers and parents have a positive relationship with each other and are on the same page. I’m looking forward to partnering with you to help your child reach their full potential! I’ve been teaching for 15 years. In addition to teaching 4th grade reading, I also have experience in teaching 3rd and 4th graders in the High Ability Program, as well as 1st graders. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Elementary Education. I also have additional licenses in teaching reading and high-ability education. When I'm not teaching, I treasure the time that I spend with my husband and our two children. We have a beautiful baby boy named Bentley. He’s almost 5 months old and is so cuddly and sweet! We also have a sweet daughter named Scarlet. She’s in 3rd grade at FKE and she is an awesome big sister! We love spending time together and doing things as a family. I also enjoy reading, walking, tennis, yoga, shopping, going out to eat, and traveling. As a mommy and a teacher, I strive to treat all of my students with the same love, patience, and respect that I’d like my daughter and baby boy to be treated with. I know that we’ll have a wonderful year together! |
